I’ve actually been quite productive this week, steroids and insomnia induced - it’s been quite fun! My kids are adults now so the burden of Xmas magic is greatly lessened. It’s quite calm here now.
Thank you Francesca for these lovely prompts, I’m still trying to write poetry however it’s sooooo BUSY! Once things calm down a bit (probably tomorrow) I’ll get down to writing
What a lovely post! Just having a catch up and now realising a poem I wrote yesterday is your seventh prompt! Love the spirit of this post - filled with understanding x
I loved the way you've written as if you are observing what you've been doing or thinking at that moment - with a present tense. I felt I was 'present' with you :)
Oh, I love this prompt for this week. It's just the thing. Notice seven things. I think I could do that. Life is crazy right now, mostly with work and a deadline that's not my deadline but the author's deadline and I'm trying to edit her book in time for her to meet it's but it's taking forever. A lot of frustration and not much Christmas spirit so this prompt will give me a chance to take a break and notice one thing a day perhaps.
Oh LeeAnn, what a time of year to be working to those sorts of deadlines 🙇♀️. As they say, on the days you don’t have time to notice you no doubt need to notice more than ever. Don’t know who “they” are. But I hope you are able to find those pockets xxx
Indeed I go need to notice more especially on those days when I wake up and I'm like okay must work immediately. This morning I noticed the raindrops on the maple tree's branches. They were like little diamonds.

If I could be so bold, here is a metaphysical poem I wrote about Christmas/The Winter Solstice.

Lovely!
Unwrap
beneath the tree's glow
paper crinkles, ribbons slide
memories emerge
from tissue-paper cocoons:
ornaments passed down with love
Thank you for the inspiration and reminder. I wonder these days if I might have my own tiny hands to make magic for one day.
Nelly, a Tanka for you.
Anticipation
children press their palms
against cold window glass,
breath
making foggy clouds—
outside the first snowflakes
fall
too light yet to leave their
mark

Have a happy Christmas 🎄 and see you in 2025!
Some lovely prompts!
I’m working today and hope to have it finished by the time the sun sets. Time for prompts afterwards, all being well!
