Our next poetry circle…
We meet again this Thursday 10th October at 8pm (London) for our next Poetry Circle. We’ll be grabbing a virtual table at the back of a virtual coffee shop (Zoom) to read some poetry, write some poetry, some of us might even share some poetry out loud (this bit is always entirely optional).
Expect to start off by listening to a few poems, followed by a speedy, lightweight writing prompt to get us started. After that we’ll share a handful of potential ‘poem leaping off points’ before (mostly) going off camera to have a play. Or if you’re already working on some poetry, feel free to use this as dedicated time to keep on working (we all know it can be tough to find this sort of dedicated time). Then, before finishing up, there will be a final poetry swooning sesh.
I cannot get enough of these circles. Every time I’ve been blown away by the generosity and warmth of the other writers. Every time there has been at least one poem that has made me bite my bottom lip. Every time I finish up loving poetry that little bit more than when I started (is that possible, well I didn’t think so but apparently).
If you’ve never been to one before, I promise you will be welcomed with open arms. They are mega relaxed, perfect for those just starting out with writing poetry (I put myself in that camp, always) and full of tremendously good spirit. You might just find yourself with a quiet hour of creative writing. You might just find yourself with something resembling a poem (here’s hoping).
Here are the details for joining on the night and a reminder of what to bring….
